Campbell is a leukemia survivor. She was diagnosed in 2012 with ALL and was treated at CHoR at VCU. We spent at least one week a month during that first year of treatment in the hospital. For the better part of three years, CHoR was home - either clinic or in-patient stays. We are so thankful to have CHoR locally. It makes the scary experience of being really sick so much better for kids. Recently when we were at the hospital to visit a friend, Campbell remarked, "I miss this place." That is a true testament to what a fabulous job CHoR does. This is a place where she received chemo, and shots, and surgeries. But what she remembers are the kind and loving doctors and nurses, and Child Life Specialists, and volunteers that made it their top priority to make her smile and still have a childhood. As a parent, I am forever thankful for that.
